Directed by the Japanese animation wizard Masaaki Yuasa and funded in part by Open Culture Entertainment, the film is set to premiere on April 7th in mainland China.
Adapted from Hideo Furukawa's version of "The Tale of the Heike: Inu-Oh," the film features character designs by the ingenious manga artist Taiyo Matsumoto. Screenwriting is helmed by the renowned Akiyo Nogi, with international music virtuoso Otomo Toshihide orchestrating the score. The lead role is performed by AVU-CHAN, lead singer of Queen Bee, alongside a stellar cast including Mirai Moriyama, Tasuku Emoto, and Kenjiro Tsuda. The narrative unfolds during Japan's Nanboku-cho and Muromachi periods, centering on the soul-stirring friendship and mutual redemption between the Noh performer "Inu-Oh" and the biwa player "Tomona."
