To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Monkey Punch’s masterpiece Lupin III becoming an animated series, and the 40th anniversary of Tsukasa Hojo’s debut serialized work Cat’s Eye, a collaborative movie featuring “Thief x Master” emerges. Set in the 1980s during the serialization of “Cat’s Eye,” this story unfolds a vintage, stylish, and exhilarating tale of crime and action! In 1981 Tokyo, three sisters, Hitomi, Rui, and Ai, run a coffee shop during the day and operate as the enigmatic thief trio “Cat’s Eye” at night, stealing a painting from an art exhibition. Meanwhile, the elusive master thief, Lupin III, also appears in Tokyo, having already stolen a painting ahead of an armed organization. Both stolen paintings are by the artist Michael Heinz—a piece from the “Bouquets and Girls” triptych. For the Cat’s Eye sisters, these artworks are crucial clues to uncovering information about their father, Heinz. When they realize that the legendary thief is targeting the same “prey,” their eyes gleam with a strong sense of competition.
