Plot summary:

Born as the son of a Noh dance troupe leader in Muromachi Kyoto, Inu-Oh is ostracized by others due to his physical difference, so he dons a gourd mask concealing his visage. One day, Inu-Oh encounters Tomona (voiced by Mirai Moriyama), a blind biwa player under a curse. As Tomona plucks the strings of the biwa, Inu-Oh dances to the rhythm of his song. In that singular moment, their breaths intertwine, and a world unfolds, inhabited only by the two of them.

Inu-Oh embraces a destiny of grandeur, forging his life through powerful dance, while Tomona seeks the truth behind his curse, finding resonance between his biwa and the realms beyond. Surviving together in chaotic times, they become partners, each showcasing their unique talents, becoming fervently celebrated artists. Yet, at their pinnacle, something else awaits the duo……

The movie is based upon the novel Tales of the Heike: Inu-Oh by Hideo Furukawa.

Achievement in mainland China:

The first ticket of the 2022 Beijing International Film Festival was sold. Within two hours of sales opening, all five screenings were completely sold out, sparking significant attention and discussion among numerous movie enthusiasts. The total box office revenue accumulated to 4.221 million yuan.
